A mint unused stamp from Costa Rica, from the earliest ‘Porte Real’ definitive series, issued by Correos de Costa Rica. The stamp features the Costa Rican coat of arms: a sailing ship in a bay surrounded by mountains and five-pointed stars, framed by ornamental acanthus leaves in deep blue. The inscription reads Porte ½ Real, Correos de Costa Rica, Medio Real. Printed by the American Bank Note Company, New York.
