A superb photographic postcard depicting the Salon de Josephine (Josephine’s Drawing Room) at the Chateau de la Malmaison, Napoleon’s principal residence during the Consulate. The image captures the magnificent Empire-style interior with its ornate gilded ceiling, elaborately decorated wall panels, crystal chandelier, marble fireplace with candelabras, and a white marble bust displayed prominently. Empire-style armchairs, gueridon tables, and velvet rope barriers are visible. Published by Neurdein Freres (ND Phot.), Series No.68.

The Salon was Josephine’s private reception room and remains one of the most intact Napoleonic period interiors in France. Unused with clean undivided-style reverse. A premier piece from the Malmaison ND Phot. series.
