Original antique postcard depicting the bedroom (Chambre à coucher) of Empress Joséphine at the Château de la Malmaison — the very room where she died on 29 May 1814. The photograph shows the magnificent Empire-style interior: a draped canopy bed with gilded columns, rich dark curtains, a portrait on the wall, and elegant neoclassical furniture arranged as preserved in the museum.
The caption reads: «Château de la MALMAISON. Chambre à coucher de Joséphine, où elle mourut le 29 mai 1814.» Published by Neurdein Frères (ND Phot.) as No.137 in their celebrated Malmaison series, c.1900–1910.
Reverse is blank and unused, with some age spotting — particularly to the upper-left corner — consistent with a card of this period. Front in good condition. One of the most historically significant rooms in the Malmaison collection, making this an especially desirable piece for collectors of Napoleonica and French imperial history.
