Versailles – Grand Trianon, Chambre de Napoleon I – Antique Postcard, c.1905

An atmospheric early 20th-century photographic postcard depicting La Chambre de Napoleon I (Napoleon’s Bedroom) at the Palais du Grand Trianon, Versailles. The image shows Napoleon’s Empire-style sleeping apartment with its characteristic boat-shaped lit en bateau (campaign bed), gilded armchairs, white marble pedestal table, and crystal chandelier. A marble bust of a female figure is visible on the console. The distinctive star-patterned wallpaper and parquet floor complete this evocative interior.

Napoleon used the Grand Trianon frequently during the Consulate and Empire periods, preferring it for its quieter setting away from the main palace. The divided-back reverse is unused and clean. A fine Versailles Napoleonic interior card for the serious collector.
