Château de la Malmaison – La Cour d’honneur, Main Entrance Façade – ND Phot. Postcard No.46 c.1900

£24.00

Antique French postcard of the Château de la Malmaison — Cour d’honneur (main ceremonial entrance courtyard). ND Phot. No.46, c.1905. Unused, blank reverse.

Availability: 1 in stock

Original antique postcard presenting a grand view of the Cour d’honneur — the ceremonial entrance courtyard — of the Château de la Malmaison. The photograph is taken from the approach avenue, framed by formal clipped hedges and topiary, looking directly towards the classical façade of Napoleon and Joséphine’s beloved country residence near Paris.

The Château de la Malmaison served as the principal private residence of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Joséphine from 1799 to 1809, and today is one of France’s most important Napoleonic museums. This view of the Cour d’honneur captures the serene, dignified character of the estate as it appeared in the early twentieth century.

Published by Neurdein Frères (ND Phot.) as No.46. The reverse is blank and unused, featuring the classic divided-back Carte Postale / Correspondance / Adresse layout, c.1905–1910. Light age toning to the upper-left corner of the front; reverse clean and well-preserved.
