A fine early 20th-century photographic postcard depicting the Library (La Bibliotheque) at the Chateau de la Malmaison, Napoleon’s beloved residence near Paris. The interior features a vaulted ceiling with painted classical decorations, twin columns flanking arched windows, mahogany Empire-style furniture, Napoleon’s writing desk, and glass-fronted bookcases. Published by Neurdein Freres (ND Phot.), Series No.167.
The library at Malmaison was one of Napoleon’s favourite rooms, housing over 4,000 volumes. The Chateau served as his primary residence during the Consulate period (1800-1802). Unused and in Good condition. A sought-after piece for Napoleonic interior collectors.
