Original antique postcard depicting the gallery at the Château de la Malmaison displaying four large tapestry panels commissioned by Emperor Napoleon I — a series that was left unfinished following the Restoration. The most prominent panel shows Napoleon on horseback in full military dress, surrounded by his guard, captured in a dramatic composition typical of the imperial propaganda art of the First Empire.
The card caption reads: «Tapisserie : quatre Panneaux d’une suite commandée par Napoléon Ier, interrompu par la Restauration». Published by Neurdein Frères (ND Phot.) as No.155 in their celebrated Malmaison series, c.1900–1910.
Reverse is blank and unused. Some age spotting to the reverse, front in good condition. A noteworthy piece for collectors of Napoleonica, French art history, and Belle Époque postcards.
